Positive Workplace Drug Tests Escalating – Especially Where Marijuana is Legal

(Winter 2014) Quest Diagnostics, whose reports on 8.5 million workplace drug tests done nationwide serve as a bellwether, announced it found an increase in positives for the first time since 2003. Of particular interest is the 20% increase in drug tests positives for marijuana in Colorado as this is the first year the drug is recreationally legal. And in Washington, where it is also legal for recreational use, there was a 23% increase in positives for marijuana as compared to 6.2% increase in positives for marijuana in the rest of the nation.
