Pennsylvania Implements New Prescription Rules for Dentists
(Fall 2015) Pennsylvania’s departments of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) and Health have established a group of rules concerning the prescription of opioids for managing both short- and long-term oral-facial pain. These guidelines are aimed at decreasing the potential for prescription opioid addiction. The Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Dental Association are both backing the new procedures.
