Impact to Ohio from the Recent Bill Signed by Trump

(Winter 2018) Just over a week before election day, legislators in the Buckeye State announced that close to $56 million was allocated by the federal government to fight Ohio’s opioid crisis. The funding is earmarked for a State Opioid Response Grant and will go toward

  • increasing access to medication-assisted therapies
  • raising awareness among Ohioans regarding opioids
  • assisting individuals in recovery as they seek housing and jobs
  • making naloxone more widely available
  • developing better training for health care staff working in the recovery sector

It’s anticipated that the funding would underwrite treatment and recovery efforts for 18,000 individuals over a two-year time frame.
