Drugged Driving Surpasses Drunk Driving
(Summer 2017) For the first time, data shows that American drivers who met their death due to a vehicular crash were more likely to have drugs in their systems than alcohol. Forty-three percent of motorists screened in deadly accidents in 2015 tested positive for either a legal or illegal drug, as opposed to 37% whose blood alcohol content levels were higher than the legal threshold.
Concerns over drugged driving continue to increase as the opioid crisis marches on and more states legalize marijuana.
