Marijuana Research Made Easier

(Fall 2015) The Department of Health and Human Services dropped one of its regulatory mandates for those wishing to conduct studies on the medicinal qualities of marijuana. Researchers must still receive approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but will no longer need to submit their plans to the Public Health Services (PHS). Research advocates believe the mandate requiring all plants for marijuana research be sourced from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) should also be removed.
