New Painkiller on the Market?
A new prescription painkiller, likely to hit the market in 2013, is being considered by some as the “next Oxycontin.” The drug is a pure form of hydrocodone (the active ingredient in Vicodin) and will likely be marketed by one pharmaceutical company under the name “Zohydro.”
According to the pharmaceutical company’s website, Zohydro is currently in clinical trials for the treatment of “moderate to severe chronic pain in patients requiring around-the-clock opioid therapy.”
