Newly formed Cannabis Caucus

(Spring 2017) Four Congressmen have formed a bipartisan Cannabis Caucus dedicated to creating policies that support the growing number of states who have legalized marijuana for medical and recreational purposes.  Earl Blumenauer, one of the members of the newly formed caucus, has shared that the two biggest issues facing the marijuana industry are that federal law prevents marijuana businesses from fully deducting their business taxes and that these businesses can’t work with banks.

Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) had reported that each member of the Cannabis Caucus has received campaign donations from the marijuana lobby.
