Now There’s an App for Blood Alcohol Levels?

(Spring 2017) Computer and nano-engineers from the University of California at San Diego have partnered to develop a small “wearable tattoo” that reads and broadcasts the wearer’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to his or her smartphone. The biosensor patch works by monitoring alcohol amounts in the individual’s sweat.

The tool’s creators believe it may lower dangerous drinking that can result in drunk driving, overdose and violence.

As developers are still working to streamline the device’s app, it is not ready for the public yet. However, as the tattoo is non-invasive and can be concealed under a sleeve, the advantages of this technology are easy to recognize.
