Palcohol Strongly Opposed

(Fall 2015) Powdered alcohol, or Palcohol, may be coming to a store near you soon – or will it? The product comes in a foil pouch that doubles as a glass when water is added. Recent studies show that more than half of adults surveyed want Palcohol to be illegal in their state, and 84% believe it should not be sold online. Many are concerned that it will be easier for underage drinkers to misuse and purchase alcohol in this format, and 85% of adults say that the product’s advertisements should be banned from social networking sites frequented by teens. Palcohol has spurred a plethora of proposed legislation throughout the country, and 22 states have already outlawed Palcohol either permanently or on a short-term basis.
